BUILD Solid Ground

By 2030, more than 60% of humanity will live in urban clusters. In this perspective, the 11th Sustainable Development Goal which was adopted by the UN in 2015 within the so-called Agenda 2030, indicates the need to create places of residence appropriate for human life and development. Cities should become more open, secure, affordable, provide access to property rights and basic services. Thanks to the balance between the three aspects of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental – inhabitants will gain influence on the shape of cities and the harmonious development of local communities.

BUILD Solid Ground is an educational project in which we deal with the challenges of global housing. We show why it is worth engaging in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and what interdependencies exist between local development and the development of the countries of the Global South. As part of formal and non-formal education, we are active in primary and secondary schools as well as at universities. We organize workshops, debates, seminars, conferences, artistic events, volunteer actions, information campaigns, Human Libraries, intercontinental Skype conversations, student projects, competitions. You are welcome to participate in project activities, to follow them in our social media and to use the educational materials published on this site.

This project is funded by the European Union. It is part of Solid Ground, Habitat for Humanity’s global advocacy campaign for access to land for decent shelter.
