Google volunteers helped extend Agata and Mirosław’s house in Redzyńskie

Since April 2017 we’ve been helping Agata and Mirosław in extending their house and creating more living space for their 8-member family. The works have been moving forward smoothly due to the support of our business partners, such as Google. 35 Google employees joined us at the build site on 29th-30th June 2017 and, all together, they contributed 280 hours of voluntary work.

The volunteers helped out in the project which we started in April 2017. You can learn more about it on the project page: House extension with the family of Agata and Mirosław in Redzyńskie.

During the corporate volunteering event, nobody could complain about boredom, because the range of tasks was very diverse. The volunteers helped us:

  • finish the ground floor ceiling installation and concrete it
  • prepare the foundation and concrete the terrace
  • clear and organize the garden in front of the house
  • mount the service wire and the first catch-pit of the plumbing installation

Volunteers about the event
At the end of every day, volunteers filled in anonymous evaluation surveys. They expressed positive opinions about all of the organizational aspect of the event. The proportion of ‘great’ and ‘very good’ responses was 97%.
One of the event participants, Magda, describes her impressions on volunteering as follows:

What a day! If every day spent together with Habitat for Humanity gives such a satisfaction, I’m signing up for a week-long project straight away! I came back tired and overwhelmed with joy from Redzyńskie because of how much we’ve managed to do in just one day. And I must admit that I’m impressed by how SMARTLY Habitat for Humanity leads all the stuff, how it teaches to respect work, help, engagement, and how it takes care of all people’s safety. Chapeau bas for the way you keep helping!
